Amber McGregor was born in Topeka , Kansas in 1975. She was raised in Tulsa , Oklahoma and spent her teenage years in New Orleans , Louisiana , the influences of which show up widely throughout her work. Amber moved to Tennessee following her now husband Justin's move in 1998. She has studied at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg , Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro , and is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Bachelors of Fine Arts program at the University of Memphis with an emphasis in Sculpture.

Both her paintings and her sculptural works (including her performances, videos, and installations) to this point have dealt primarily with her experiences as a woman in the late 20th and early 21st century. Her work attempts to draw parallels between her experiences planning her wedding with the emphasis on the physical exterior and superficial in today's culture.
